FAQ

Welcome to the frequently answered questions page from yoga teacher Ann Kenney who teaches yoga classes in the Crowthorne area. If you have a question which is not answered here please drop me your question from my contact Ann page. Thank you.

What is yoga?

Yoga is a five thousand year old physical and philosophical system designed to improve a person on all levels. Yoga is a Sanskrit word which means ‘union’. Yoga is concerned with uniting the elements of body,  mind and intellect to provide a fulfilled way of living.

Yoga is a safe re-energising  form  of exercise which builds a firm foundation of health. Constant practice improves concentration, strength, flexibility, circulation, burns excess fat and aids deep relaxation.

I am not fit or flexible, will yoga be suitable for me?

The wonderful thing about yoga is that you can start from where you are now. Yoga is non-competitive, each posture is practised to the best of that person’s ability. Each posture can be adapted to suit the individual.

What should I wear and bring to a yoga session?

Wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing such as sports trousers or shorts and a t-shirt. Yoga is always practised with bare feet. If you have your own mat, bring it. Bring a blanket  if you have one to cover yourself for relaxation. I have a limited number of mats available for newcomers

Should I eat before a yoga class?

It is best not to have eaten for at least 1.5 to 2 hours before a yoga class.  If attending the Saturday morning class, maybe a very light snack like a banana, or some grapes, before the class.
